The client:
Brighton City Reads

The brief:
To create a user-friendly guide to Ali Smith's award-winning novel Hotel World as part of this city wide reading initiative. To introduce and explain the City Reads concept and to help attract new audiences to contemporary literature.

The format:
A5 24pp full-colour brochure.

The concept:
To mirror the exuberance and playfulness of Ali Smith's writing in words and images. To create a resource that would be stimulating and accessible to a wide range of readers. I devised the overall concept and worked closely with the designer throughout the process.

The feedback:
‘Just wanted to say what a fantastic job you did on the creation of the City Reads brochure. It was a thoroughly professional job in both execution and production. And even better: you managed to deliver well within deadline, as you always do! I look forward to working with you again soon.’
Sarah Hutchings, Literature Events Manager,
Jubilee Library, Brighton

‘I have to say a word about the City Reads brochure. It's one of the most critically fluid and approachable pieces about a book I've seen; beautifully compiled, designed, and written with grace; that it should be about a book I wrote is like being given a very fine gift indeed.’
